The Utah Health Education Core Standards have undergone proposed revisions. Various stakeholders, including parents, teachers, specialists, faculty from higher education, and other community leaders have provided input toward making these revisions. Key recommended revisions include: 

  • An overall consistent and progressive organization of strands and standards resulting in alignment of  K-6 Health, Middle School Health, High School Health.
  • Focus on physical health, mental and emotional health, and social health within each strand.
  • Approach standards from a positive perspective emphasizing critical thinking, conflict resolution, problem solving, and healthy behaviors.
  • Consistent strand organization. 
You can review proposed changes to the Health Education Core Standards at: https://schools.utah.gov/curr/health
and leave comments in the online survey. Please click on the “Health Education Standards Revision” tab. 

You are also invited to join us at the Public Review meeting where you will be able to share your feedback regarding the proposed changes. The Public Review meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm located at the Maeser Training Center, 1149 North 2500 West, Vernal, Utah 84078.
